Program Objective

The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints, Students learn to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain.

We are dedicated to promoting a unique concept of Massage Therapy with the highest standard of education so that students graduate out knowing the skills that are currently in demand. Students would develop the required academic knowledge and expertise that will allow them to successfully conduct a methodical patient assessment, prepare treatment plans, deliver safe and effective treatment in an efficient manner while evaluating the diagnostic results. For the future entrepreneur, the course will teach how to successfully conduct ones’ own business as well.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Massage Therapy Program at Pharma-Medical Science College of Canada must meet the following requirements:

Academic Requirements

  • The applicant must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Note for mature students: If an applicant does not have an OSSD or equivalent, they must complete a Ministry-approved adult English test (e.g., CAAT – Canadian Adult Achievement Test).

This test is used only to assess academic readiness and does not fulfill the language proficiency requirement for admission to the Massage Therapy program.

Additional Requirement

Preferred prior to program start, but must be submitted no later than before clinical placement.

Language Proficiency requirement

Effective communication is fundamental to delivering competent, safe, and high-quality Massage Therapy services. Language fluency plays a critical role in protecting the public by enabling registrants to communicate effectively with clients and other healthcare professionals.

All program activities—including lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions—are conducted in English. To succeed in the program and fully participate in essential components such as student clinics and outreach, students must demonstrate strong English writing, comprehension, and speaking skills.

To align with CMTO’s Language Fluency Policy, applicants must meet one of the following criteria for admission:

  1. An applicant first and primary language is English or French; or
  2. The applicant has completed at least three years of secondary education in English or French; or
  3. An applicant has completed a standardized third-party English language test approved by the College within the past two years and achieved the required scores set by the College.

Note: If the applicant completed their education outside of Canada in a country where neither English nor French is the primary language of communication and employment, they may be required to provide verification from the school regarding language of instruction.

Communication Courses

As part of CMTO’s Education Pathway criteria, our program curriculum includes:

Two full (30-hour) mandatory communication courses focused on English comprehension and health-related communication.

    • Professional Communication I
    • Professional Communication II
      Students must successfully complete both courses to meet program and CMTO requirements.

Clinical Practice

Students will have the opportunity to work in a real clinic following college Campus RMT clinic schedule.

Graduates with a registered RMT license can work for positions such as chiropractor, physiotherapist, rehabilitation assistant, therapy assistant, etc in any of these industries:
