Pharma-Medical Science College of Canada has been offering the Personal Support Worker Certificate Program for the last 10 years successfully. This is a full-time 6 months regular training program that encompasses students to gain excellent knowledge about the health-care facilities and the job duties expected from a Support Worker! Graduates from Personal Support Worker from Pharma-Medical Science College have shown tremendous achievement in getting a job almost immediately right after completing their placement. A lot of the graduates even got hired directly from their placement in nursing homes with highly competitive salaries.

Support workers usually work in nursing homes, long-term retirement homes, take care of private clients in their last-days or during periods when their family is away. Usually, they help their clients with activities of daily living. A support worker or home-care aide may assist a client at home with her daily routine work like helping with groceries, cooking light meals at home, helping to the toilet and bathe the client, personal-grooming, feeding and light house-keeping jobs as well.

In many cases, personal support workers also find work in the recreational and therapeutic department of long-term care homes or even in the shelter homes with special needs children. They can help clients and residents with different recreational and therapeutic activities as well as help them with their mental rehabilitation using different healing and restorative programs.

However, in most cases, personal support workers find the majority of their work either in nursing homes or in hospitals. They could get hired either directly by the nursing home or hospitals or by staffing agencies.
